The Big Freeze Strikes - QPR Game Off

QPR's Championship game with Plymouth Argyle is the latest football fixture to bite the dust as a result of the freezing weather across Britain. The club announced this lunchtime that the game is postponed and looking at the official statement on the club website, it seems the conditions around and outside the ground rather than the state of the pitch were the reason.

The club said: "The safety of supporters is of paramount importance... following an inspection of the surrounding areas by the Club, local authorities and the police on Friday morning, a decision was taken to postpone the fixture."

The club will now sincerely hope that the weather changes prior to their FA Cup replay with Sheffield United on Tuesday or they could face a build-up of fixtures in what is already a packed Championship schedule.
